Welcome To

Nuwefonteinskop Lodge

Enjoy the Namaqualand experience of a quaint, rustic and very traditional South African village.

About a Village with a Lodge

On the malaria-free West Coast of Namaqualand, you’ll find the tiny village of Kotzesrus. The village lies almost right in the middle of where the Namaqualand Sandveld and Hardeveld meet. Facing north, if you look to your left, you’ll see the sandy coastal fields towards the sea and if you look to your right, you’ll see the rocky granite hills towards the inland. This unique geographical location offers an opportunity to enjoy nature and culture in so many different nuances, that it is described as one of the best Namaqualand experiences ever shared.

Kotzesrus village is only 18 km from the unspoiled beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, about 55km from Garies and more or less 60km from Bitterfontein on the N7. Time stood still here for decades on end, except for one sumptuous private lodge which was developed distinctively for you to experience the unique beauty and folklore of Namaqualand.

If you linger at the lodge for a few days, you’ll be treated to the enchantment of delicious traditional cuisine, gin sundowners, customized picnics, 4×4 nature drives to the wild white beaches, unforgettable night drives in the moonlight and exciting tractor trips on a rocky hill…

The peace, the perfect off the grid nights, the absence of streetlights and traffic, the sounds of silence, and the wonderful world-renowned Namaqualand wildflowers in Springtime is truly second to none here!
